Precautions for Using cutting blade milling cutter:
The thinner a solid carbide slitting saw is, the more sensitive it becomes to vibration and tensile stress during operation. Significant radial or axial runout can easily cause damage. Therefore, the milling machine should operate under optimal conditions, i.e., with high machine accuracy, a rigid tool holder, smooth transmission, constant feed per tooth, and sufficient cooling.
Specific requirements are as follows:
(1) Whenever possible, use the largest possible flange to clamp both sides of the saw blade onto the tool holder, provided it does not affect the milling depth. The purpose is to eliminate vibration and avoid lateral pressure. Generally, the flange diameter should be no less than one-third of the saw’s outer diameter.
(2) Appropriate cutting speed (Vc) and feed per tooth (Sz) should be selected. Under the same conditions, solid carbide slitting saws generally allow for a higher Vc compared to high-speed steel slitting saws. However, the feed per tooth should be lower than that of high-speed steel saws. Typically, Sz can be set within the range of 0.005–0.025 mm/tooth. Specific parameters should be determined by the user based on factors such as milling machine accuracy, spindle speed, material properties of the workpiece, and the saw’s outer diameter, thickness, number of teeth, and milling depth.
